Round Mountain is a small, rustic campground that sits just 6 miles from Lake George, 11 miles from the Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument and 15 miles to Eleven Mile Reservoir. It is also within a short drive to hiking and biking trails, fly fishing, wildlife watching and birding.
Boulder Oaks is the only equestrian site on the Descanso district, offering 17 horse stables, 30 camp sites, and local access to the Pacific Crest Trail
Lost Lake Campground is a great place to camp although you will need a camping permit. Because it is so remote it is a great place for fishing and hiking around Lost Lake, Dollar Lake and Lost Lake Slough.
Now this campground is an interesting place. You can only camp here in a tent and your neighbours can be right next to you at busy times of the year. We went during mid summer and there was only one other camper. Someone through a big cookout at the Pavilion but they did that when were were out exploring the area.
Think about all the great things to see and do that you can only discover on a camping trip into the wilderness of this big and wonderful world. There’s no way I would have discovered this beautiful waterfall if I had not been traveling down this country road in the middle of Colorado’s Gunnison National Forest on a camping trip.
The Grand Canyon National Park can only truly be experienced in person to fully appreciate is size and scope. This unique combination of color and grandeur that follows the Colorado River for 277 miles and is up to 18 miles wide and a mile deep. The Grand Canyon overwhelms the senses through its immense size.
