This marina is located inside Canada on the Niagara River and is a check-in point if you are going to use the Welland Canal between Lake Ontario and Lake Erie.

We stopped here to refuel on our trip from St Michaels, MD to Port Huron, MI. Had I know it at the time I would have checked in there but I waited until I was ready to enter the canal. I used the blue phone at the canal entrance that did not work. It took several hours to get in contact with the Canadian anchorites using that method.

The marina is located at the western end of Lake Ontario right beside Fort Niagara. It is a tight fit to get in and out of but if your just getting gas the pumps are located on the first dock on your starboard side when you enter. So easy in and easy out if you are just refueling.

Niagara-on-the-Lake

Niagara-on-the-Lake is a town in southern Ontario. It sits on the shores of Lake Ontario, at the mouth of the Niagara River. It’s known for its wineries and the summer Shaw Festival, a series of theatre productions. The flower-filled, tree-lined old town features 19th-century buildings, mainly along Queen Street. Near the river, 19th-century Fort George was built by the British to defend against American attacks.

Youngstown, New York

Located just across the Niagara River is the American town of Youngstown, New York. They have a free dock that you can tie up to and go shopping for supplies. It is a nice little town and has everything you need within walking distance.

Old Fort Niagara

Fort Niagara State Park is just to the north of Youngstown and is the Old Fort Niagara. The Fort is open year-round with the exception of New Years Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Park admission is $15.00 for adults, $10:00 for children (6 to 12 years) and free for children (5 and under).

Ships Captain The Dread Pirate Dave

David is the Editor in Chief of Postcards From the Edge. I was born on a cold November morning on the showy plains of Colorado. Like my father, before me, I am an American Nomad.
