2021 Prada Cup Semi-Finals ~ Day 2

Day 2 of the 2021 Prada Cup Semi-Finals had two races scheduled, SF R3 and SF R4. Team, Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli sailed against NYYC American Magic for the win in both races again.

By the first gate, Luna Rossa was 13 seconds ahead. By the bottom of the first downwind leg, they had squeezed a few more seconds out to lead by 22 secs. While there was now a physical distance of around 300m between the two, it was clear that Luna Rossa was taking nothing for granted, tacking to cover each time American Magic tried to break free.

Semi-Final 1 Race 4

Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli Team – Winner
NYYC American Magic – Looser

For Luna Rossa, winning both races launched them to the PRADA Cup final, for American Magic losing two races will see them heading for home. If they had won just one race, they could have kept their campaign alive, at least for another day.

Yesterday’s 2021 Prada Cup Semi-Finals Races gives Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli Team a total of 4 points and NYYC American Magic still sits at 0 points on day 2 of the 2021 Prada Cup Semi-Finals.

Team Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli will be the official challenger for the America’s Cup and compete against defender Team New Zealand.
