Day 3 of the 2021 Prada Cup continues with the RR2 R2 and RR2 R3. INEOS Team UK sailed to victory against Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli Team in the first race of the day. In the second race of the day, Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli Team sailed to victory against NYYC American Magic to win the second race.

The first race ended with American Magic capsizing while rounding Gate 5 when a gust of wind caught the sails causing the leeward running backstay to not release and preventing the mainsail from being eased. No crew was reported injured but the incident caused a large hole in the hull of the boat and for a time it was at significant risk of sinking. Per race rules, Luna Rossa Challenge was awarded the victory.
Yesterday’s 2021 Prada Cup Round Robin Races gives INEOS Team UK a total of 4 points, Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli Team a total of 2 point and NYYC American Magic still sits at 0 points on day 3 of the 2021 Prada Cup.
The first team to 6 points will go to the 2021 Prada Cup Finals. The other two teams will compete in the 2021 Prada Cup Semi-Finals and the will go to the Finals.
The winner of the 2021 Prada Challenger’s Trophy will determine who sails against Emirates Team New Zeland in the 36th America’s Cup.
